We Love Plastics
Innovation in plastics has transformed our everyday life. Its hard to remember that plastics are only a little over a century old! In 1907 Leo Baekeland invented the first synthetic polymer called "Bakelite". In 1954, the first Polypropylene was created by Giulio Natta marketed under the name "Moplen". Today, thousands of different types of plastic compounds have been invented.
One of our feature plastics, "Polypropylene" (originally "Moplen"), is used in many of our everyday products. Everything from the cloths you wear, to car bumpers, to yogurt cups, even your favorite take out restaurant's food container, it is almost surely made of Polypropylene. New products are being made daily with the use of manufactured plastics.
How could we not love plastic with all those uses? Just because we love these inventions doesn't mean we shouldn't look to the future for what happens with all those daily uses after we are done with them.
Taking our cues from nature's designs; where nothing is ever wasted, our mission at SSD Designs is to help plastic manufacturers find ways to create their own circular economy. We will be there to help them with the technology, design, equipment, materials and support they need to re-imagine, revalue, and reinvent their problems into a "permaculture like" solution.
Make a difference by creating a circular economy in your manufacturing
Plastics can be recycled 7-9 times before they have seen their "useful life". In contrast, paper can only be recycled 4-6 times before it has seen it's "useful life". You have likely figured out that this means plastics has a minimum of a 33.3% greater life cycle than paper. Let's get all we can out of these amazing products we love to use so much!
